Story Behind the Science
Chemistry and Human Health was created around a simple belief: chemistry is not limited to laboratories, formulas or scientific publications. It is part of everyday life.
Science is part of life
It is present in the medicines we rely on, the food we eat, the water we drink, the environment around us and the biological processes that sustain human life.
Chemistry and Human Health brings scientific knowledge beyond individual institutions, connecting researchers, educators, students and professionals around a shared purpose.
This is where our story begins: with the belief that scientific knowledge can move beyond the laboratory and create meaningful progress for people and society.

Dr. Marine Shavlakadze
Founder · Scientist · Researcher · AcademicA vision shaped by research
PhD in Chemical and Biological Engineering, with extensive experience in environmental research, higher education and international scientific collaboration.
On 17 October 2024, this vision became Chemistry and Human Health. Dr. Shavlakadze has been actively engaged in scientific research since 2008 and combines research, education, project leadership and the development of opportunities for young scientists.
She serves as Associate Professor and Head of the Center for Research and Development at the Faculty of Health of Tbilisi Humanitarian Training University, alongside her role as a Senior Researcher at the Tsotne Mirtskhulava Water Management Institute of Georgian Technical University.
Her work focuses particularly on water and soil studies, environmental contamination, industrial waste, natural resources and human well-being.
Throughout her career, she has authored and co-authored 40 scientific papers, contributed to 11 scientific grant projects, and participated in and organized more than 20 international scientific conferences.
Research, leadership and collaboration
Years of scientific work and international cooperation shaped the idea behind Chemistry and Human Health: a platform where knowledge can be shared and new connections can grow.
Active scientific research in chemical and biological engineering, environmental research and water management.
Deputy Chair of the Young Scientists Council at the Georgian National Academy of Sciences, supporting emerging researchers and organizing seven Young Scientists’ Conferences.
Academic and research cooperation with the Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences in Poland.
Because behind science are people
People who explore, collaborate, share knowledge and turn discovery into progress. Chemistry and Human Health exists to bring those people together and create opportunities for science to benefit society.
